I really want to see what brands and kinds of beauty products they send out in their first shipments. It is pricy for just one product, but could be worth it. Keep posted to see what’s in Septembers box!

July 2014 Birchbox

Whew I am in love with Birchbox right now. Even when they mess up, their customer service cannot be beat! Any issue or request I have had Birchbox has been wonderful. With this month’s July box I ordered one of the “Power Up” options and since it is going to be late they credited me $10 in the BB shop. What’s best is that they addressed the issue before I even had to contact them. I still haven’t gotten my rechargeable phone battery that I ordered but I hope it comes soon, I am always re-charging a dying phone before headed out the door.

Birchbox teamed up with Women’s Health Magazine again this year to curate July’s box and I really like the box design!

Ruffian Nail Polish and Bonus Nail Polish Remover Wipe: This was not technically my choice, I originally picked the lip stain but it didn’t work (and then the only nail polish that was left was this one). I don’t mind though because I don’t have a silver polish and this formula is great. I put on a single coat of polish and it hasn’t chipped and looks good. As an added plus I really like the cute chess like bottles that Ruffian comes in.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel: I am so excited for this product and because of the high price I am glad I have the sample to try out first. I have never tried a facial peel before this one. Supposedly it will clear up any acne and basically make my skin radiant. I have tried this once. It is a clear gel and doesn’t have much scent to it. After leaving it on my face for 30 seconds I followed the directions and massaged the product into my skin for 3 minutes. I feel like it did exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. My face didn’t look much different but I wasn’t expecting such quick results. This isn’t the biggest size sample but it should last me a few uses, hopefully enough to see results.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion: This is probably the least favorite item in my box mainly because I dislike the scent. I love that this is a natural and organic lotion free of parabens, dyes, petrochemicals-basically any of the “bad stuff” which is always what I try and use. This lotion has shea butter, aloe vera, avocado oil and olive oil, so it is a nice lotion. I really wish I liked the scent more. I am a huge fan of aloe vera and I have used it for sun burns my whole life so anything with that as an ingredient has to be decent. IMG_4299

Benefit Posie Balm: How adorable is Benefit’s packaging? I love the look of their entire line and I have really loved anything that I have tried from them. This posie balm is just a pink tint, nice and sheer. The balm goes on smooth and this teeny tube is great to take with me on the go.

IMG_4304 Beauty Protector Deep Conditioning Hair Mask: I am so glad that these samples came like this and not in a foil packet! I love this line and thanks to BB I have now tried the shampoo, conditioner, protector spray, oil and now this deep conditioner. It all smells sweet and fantastic, the lack of harmful ingredients is also pretty great. No sulfates or parabens, however I think they might have put in artificial color for this mask (it has a slightly pink tint).

Along with the usual product card Birchbox also included Power Up challenge cards and a free subscription to Women’s Health. Also note that if you don’t want this subscription you can ask for a rebate of $10 instead! Thank you Women’s Health!

This month was much better than last month’s and had some neat new beauties to try out! I am really excited for the new choice options, at least once the kinks have been worked out. If you want to take advantage of a good deal I think the codes WOMENSHEALTH100 and BBFAB100 should still work to give new subscribers a $10 credit in the BB shop. If you already subscribe you can cancel and then re-subscribe using the code and it will still work!  And don’t forget about bonus points for doing product reviews! Is anyone as excited for August’s box as I am? I think after July’s issues it should go more smoothly for August with the new box options. I just picked mine out today: I went with the cream eyeshadow. What did you pick or would you rather it be a surprise?

September Taste Guru and Promo for 2 Free Months!

Taste Guru is a service that sends a monthly shipment of completely gluten free food. This is a really great idea for someone who has Celiac’s and would make a great gift. While I don’t have any trouble eating gluten I thought this service sent some really great items and wanted to try it out. I was blown away by how big and heavy the box was when the delivery man dropped off my first box.

Here is a first look of the products neatly assembled in the box.

Viviana Sweet Potato Fettuccine- $6.99

I am already planning a recipe to make with this delicious looking sweet potato pasta. I love trying different varieties of pasta and also recently found a chocolate raspberry pasta to experiment with as well. This fettuccine is gluten free and made with rice flour and sweet potatoes of course! I also think it was nice that Taste Guru sent out a email with a recipe using the pasta, just in case you needed some ideas.

Sea Turf Pacific Smoked Salmon Chowder-$6.99

This looks so good. I don’t often eat smoked salmon but when I do it’s a real treat. I usually eat it on an everything bagel with red onions and capers. This soup is going to be great when the weather finally cools down.  I think the pouch packaging is the best. I hate using my can opener and this way you can microwave the pouch and pour it into a bowl. Isn’t it the worst when you burn yourself grabbing a hot bowl out of the microwave? Or is that just me that does that? Anyway…taking a look at this company it seems like they put a lot of care into making a premium product, so I hope it’s up to scratch!

Cook Simple Tamale Pie- $5.00

This box has some neat directions on the back so I had to include a picture of it. Im not too much of a fan of chili but this is still a good pantry item. Especially for a night when you are too tired to figure out dinner. This does need extra items to make it, but I think the extras are items one normally has on hand anyway.

Glutino Strawberry Breakfast Bars- $5.00

I have been giving these to my daughter to snack on and she likes them a lot . I also tried them and they tasted pretty good.

Toufayan Wraps- $3.50

I liked making some tuna wraps with these. From what I’ve heard it can be hard to find a gf wrap that doesn’t rip on you. These too seemed like they were on the brink of ripping but didn’t “whew”.

Rocky Mountain Naked Popcorn- $1.25

This was gobbled up immediately. It was good popcorn and I wish there was more. I still think it’s hilarious that my little girl loves popcorn so much. I was worried about it being a choking hazard when I gave her some for the first time. To my surprise even though she still doesn’t have all her baby teeth in she loved it! So basically any popcorn is good with us.

I used a special code to get this box cheaper which is why I decided to try it out. If you want to try Taste Guru then use the code 2FREE to get 2 months for $24. Considering this box was definitely worth more than $12 and Im going to eat everything I would say that’s a great deal!

Stunner Of the Month- August Shades

Stunner Of the Month is a monthly sunglasses subscription offering shades for both men and women. It’s really reasonable at $9 a month and right now if you use the code TRYSTUNNER you get your first month completely free. I’m really bad about my sunglasses and tend to either lose or break them. When I saw I could try this out for free I said why not?

Wow I am so glad that I didn’t pay for these! I’m sorry but what a joke, these are not my style or A’s at all. They came in the mail fairly quickly and I liked that they come with a nice little cloth case to store them in. But, I won’t ever wear these. I really wish that Stunner of the Month gave you more options then just whether you want a pair for a woman or a guy. I chose gender neutral and these are the pair that I got, the Anacondas! I think the information card is hilarious. These are going in the gift pile.

Here’s detail of the Anacondas

I won’t be continuing this subscription because for me it’s too risky. But I didn’t pay for these so I’m not too disappointed and we had a good laugh trying them on. I mean it’s only $9 a month and Im sure some people would be into these so maybe for them it’s worth the risk. If you want to take a chance try them for free and use the code TRYSTUNNER, maybe next month’s will be better.

Free Box at Klutchclub!

Klutchclub is monthly subscription service that sends you a box filled with an ssortment of products. You receive beauty, health, fitness and lifestyle items. In the past I have received head phones, vouchers for fitness workouts, tinted face primer and core omega fish oil. You really receive a wide variety of things, the box costs $25 a month with shipping. Klutchclub is offering a free best of box using the promo code ZZAmericanPride! You still have to pay $8 shipping fee, but still what a good deal.

Grab Bag Love <3 <3 <3

OMG I am in love with Grab Bag Love! I am overwhelmed by all the awesomeness that is Etsy. Even though I want to buy from all the featured crafters I just get too lost looking through everything. Enter Grab Bag Love who brings you a bag of surprise goodies found on Etsy! This isn’t a subscription service instead you can choose from three different bags and it’s a one time thing. Every bag is different! There isn’t just the same items in every bag that month. The bag I bought at the bargain of $15 (normally $25 but I had a coupon) is the Original Love Bag. This bag could feature a range of goods from cosmetics to accessories to chocolate and skin care! Im pretty happy with what I got and I already want to order another one! I also bought their Domestic bag, you can see that review here.

This is on normal paper and let’s you know what you received in your grab bag. I wouldn’t expect it to be on anything nicer. Since each bag is unique it would take a lot of effort to make each card. Also if your interested the grab bag comes in a box and everything is just inside the bag.

Here’s the first item I received:

Lemon Verbena Candle Sample from Illume

This is an adorable little candle and it smells amazing. Sometimes when I smell a candle I get a headache or pull back because it is so strong. This scent is not like that, at all. Im going to light up this bad boy tonight!

Skin Care Sample Tin by Adventures- $10

This was packaged in a nice re-usable tin. Inside were samples of Adventure’s skin cleanser, sunscreen, moisturizer, skin purifier and facial wipes. This company was created for women on the go. Who has a more active lifestyle than a young mom with her baby constantly on the go? Im really excited to try this line and it was great to receive decent sample sizes of everything. The only bummer was that something in the tin leaked, Im just not sure which product it was.

Drop Earrings by That’s Mine Boutique- $15

The packaging for these earrings was so nicely done! The earrings themselves are beautiful and I love the color. I prefer simpler jewelry that will go with everything and I wear a lot of blues, these are perfect.

Grapefruit Rosemary Gourmet Lollipop by The Groovy Baker- $1.40

This company makes some very uniquely flavored lollipops. The one that I received looks good and even has a sprig of rosemary in it. I checked them out on Etsy and they have flavors like Creme Brulee and Baklava! I can’t wait to try this one, if it’s good I might have to get more.

I am very happy with what I got and I am excited to look more into the the companies that made the products I received in this bag. All totaled the contents of this bag are about the $25 that the bag usually costs. Considering what a pain it is on Etsy to pay all the different shipping fees, I think this was pretty darn awesome. So please comment and let me know if you’ve gotten a grab bag! I would enjoy hearing what you received in yours.

Update: Now use my code TONI10 and get 10% off your first purchase!
