August Pop Sugar Must Have Box plus a Code for $10 Off!

August was one of my all time favorite Pop Sugar boxes! I don’t normally subscribe but I knew in advance that this was their anniversary box, which means that it would be extra awesome! On top of that I used a code so I could get another turkish towel that came in last month’s box. Im not sure if that code is still available but it was GWPMSA (as of 7-29 it was still working). After subscribing to many boxes the past two years I think I can say Pop Sugar has probably been my favorite. I love that you get so many different items in one box. Even though there are normally a few things I won’t use, there are many that I definitely used. I want to know what your favorite past box items have been! The things I have used the most are probably the beach wraps and towels, oh and any food items always go fast in our house ; ). IMG_4547

Pop Sugar Must Have Box-$40 monthly, cheaper with longer plan subscription. Each month get mainly full size “must have” items for the month, normally based around a specific inspiration or theme.

thinkThin Brownie Crunch High Protein Bar– Okay how crazy is it that in this tiny little bar there is a whopping 20 grams of protein!? Im not sure I need that kind of protein, sometimes too much in one sitting can upset my stomach. Im definitely going to try it out though, anything with brownie in the title is certain to be a win in my book.

Festive Celebrate Cookie Mix $12– This looks so yummy! It’s also cute how it ties in with their anniversary this month, “celebrate”. What better way to celebrate with cookies that have sprinkles and chocolate in them? The only bummer is I totally thought that this came in an actual mason jar, Ive always wanted one of those cute cake mixes that came in a jar. This packaging is really adorable and I like that I now can make a batch of cookies anytime the craving hits.

Lollia At Last Shower Gel, $22: This is one of my current favorite luxury brands. I say luxury because there is no way I would ever spend that much on shower gel. I did however spend the money on a GIANT and beautiful glass bottle of bubble bath from this brand Lollia quite recently. It’s so big it will last me a long time, I really like my bubble baths!  This shower gel has a nice scent and the packaging is so bright and cheerful. It’s swapping out my current product immediately.

 IMG_4551 IMG_4552  IMG_4554

Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace, $50: Im not sure if I am bummed about not getting the earrings or not. But I really like this necklace. I feel like it’s just that extra something to add to an outfit without going overboard. I am really liking how small and dainty it is, I feel like I will be wearing this a lot. Although maybe I could swap to get the earrings too!

Paddywax Ocean Tide + Sea Salt Candle, $10 : This smells so good, I can’t wait to use it in the bathroom for one of my bubble baths. The blue jar is so pretty I think I’ll try and make a candle with it once I used this one all up. Has anyone ever made their own candles? It seems fairly easy, and a fun project! Ill have to do some research…

Goodbyn Purple Meal and Dipper Set, $8: I have been using the hot pink Bento set from Goodbyn that I got in P’s Citrus Lane box and we love it. Im excited to have a smaller one for myself. The little dipper set is great to bring along some fruit or veggie dip for us to snack on at the park (without it spilling everywhere in my bag).

*Bonus Item using Code-Trina Turk Turkish T Towel, $32:Love Love Love these turkish towels this summer. I was using a bath robe when it was colder but these towels are a nice weight for warmer months. These towels are fairly absorbent and dry quickly. It doesn’t hurt that they are a nice blue and white stripe that goes well in our bathroom either!

Missing Item: Bite Beauty Lip Gloss

I was really sad that I didn’t get the lip gloss in my box and guess what? Pop Sugar has the best customer service I have ever experienced. I emailed them late last night and today I already received an email back saying that they would be happy to send me my missing lip gloss! Seriously, I think that they might actually be better than Birchbox’s customer service just because they were so super quick to respond. I wasn’t expecting such to hear back for a few days! Boy was I wrong, hopefully I get my lipgloss in the mail as just as quickly. This lip gloss is from Bite Beauty a line of makeup that is already quite great in my opinion. I have a lipstick from Bite that I really love especially because their products are free of parabens and sulfates and infused with food-grade ingredients. This lip gloss looks really nice and has strawberry, coconut and avocado oils. PSMH says it’s like “a super fruit smoothie for your lips” I can’t wait to try it! I will update with a picture once I get it in the mail.

So happy with the August box, even with the missing item. I really love everything I received the scent of the candle and shower gel, the cookie mix, the Goodbyn will be used a lot. I think PSMH did a wonderful job of including items that are practical, tasty, luxurious and beautiful all into one box.  Oh right and also the code for $10 off is MUSTHAVEYT

August Julep Maven: Classic with a Twist

AugustMaven_LP_HeroJulep Maven: now customizable with plenty of neat add ons for your monthly nail fix, here is the link to their new nail polish color page:, thanks Abbey!

Julep Maven is first and foremost all about nail polish but has also widened it’s scope to include products for nail care, makeup and skin care. Every month the Maven box includes 2 polishes and a beauty extra, then you can add on extra options

Cost: $19.99 a month with 3 month subscription (right now get your first month free with code FREESIZZLE) or $24.99 monthly

While I know I don’t need more nail polish I just couldn’t help but use up all of those Jules on these absolutely gorgeous colors from August’s Wanderlust collection.

I loved all of the polish colors this month, but I decided to go with Classic with a Twist and add on one other shade I really liked.

Avni- African Violet shimmer

Waleska- eucalyptus green chrome with gold iridescence

Katie- orchid iridescent chrome

Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Taupe Shimmer

This eyeliner is actually quite nice. Im not a religious user of eye liner mainly because I keep my routine simple. This goes on smoothly and really does last all day. It didn’t smudge which is awesome in an eyeliner. I hate getting that dark bag look under my eyes from my eye makeup smudging. This color is darker than I thought but works well for a lighter smoky eye look.

This month’s polishes were super awesome! I find it hard to get too excited about nail polish but wow I love the colors. The green Waleska reminds me of a mermaid’s tail. The other two polishes, Avni and Katie are both so shimmery and pretty. I know I will use these shades a lot. The eye liner was surprisingly a win for me, I have been using it more frequently than I had thought that I would. I want to see what kinds of designs mavens come up with for the Wanderlust collection. Has anyone tried a fun design for their mani lately?

What’s Making Me Smile Today, like the winner of my Jamberry giveaway!

Today I am smiling for many reasons:

*My daughter P finally FINALLY! let me put her curly blonde locks up in pigtails and wow she looked adorable! Also my outfits that I got on super sale from Fab Kids look adorable on her as shown below, Im loving them and she is too. Right now they have a promotion similar to Gymboree where you spend $50 and get a $25 credit for future use, pretty neat. Also if you use my referral link here you get your first outfit for $15 plus shipping (outfits are normally a dress, leggings and accessory). I think that’s a great deal and their clothes so far are holding up well to my busy bee and the washer.

*When we were at the park today it made me smile to see an older man (probably someone’s grandfather) with a pack of wipes in his shirt front pocket. Im not sure if anyone else would think that’s sweet. But for me normally when I see an old man I would have thought it was a pack of cigarettes in his pocket. To see someone out with their grandkids being a good grandfather is really sweet.

*I have a Birchbox order coming soon! I have gotten some referrals and saved up a lot of review points recently and finally made a purchase. Right now Birchbox has a promotion for their new Wedding Shop. When you purchase $90 exclusively in the wedding shop or on gift subscriptions you can use the promo GIFTFORME to get the awesome Limited Edition Modern Mermaid box for free with purchase!!! I have been eying that so I caved and used all my points, Im super excited for that beautiful mirror that comes in the box. Keep an eye out for my review when it comes in the mail!

Screen shot 2014-09-02 at 1.54.39 PM

There is also a new code out to get a free copy of Mindy Kaling’s book “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” when you spend $35 or more in the BB shop. Use the code MINDY and don’t forget to add on a mystery sample pack for free : )

*Citrus Lane a subscription for the kiddos and one of our favorites for getting new toys and baby gear is having a great deal. For new subscribers you can use the code 30BOXSHOP to get your first box for $9 plus $10 to use in their shop! That is one of the best deals I have ever seen, I would check it out if you have toddlers at home.

Darby Smart DIY : Little Critter Soaps and Promo Code!

Screen shot 2014-08-31 at 9.31.33 PM

Darby Smart is a most wonderful site where you can buy diy projects that are easy and very affordable. I haven’t posted enough reviews of them when I’ve actually done a lot of projects from them. This soap making kit is one of the ones I did a few months ago, the kit is still available. Darby Smart also has a monthly subscription box that is $19 a month. I haven’t gotten it in a while but the ones I received in the past were a lot of fun! If your interested in trying them out use the code howdydarby to get your first box for $10!

This soap set is $19 with free shipping. It includes three colors for your soap, a giant bar of glycerin, a soap mold, dropper and a scent. I had so much fun making these adorable little soaps! There was an instructions card included with the box and Darby Smart is always really great with their step by step directions. Every project I have done has had clear and easy to follow instructions with photos included.

 IMG_3439 IMG_3440

The colors look so pretty swirled in the soap when it hardens. My daughter is to young to have made them with me but she really enjoyed the finished project!

IMG_3441 IMG_3442

* I also had a cameo mold that I used because I had so much melted glycerin leftover

IMG_3443 IMG_3444 IMG_3445

Have you tried Darby Smart or have any fun diy projects your working on? Please share I always love checking Pinterest for inspiration !

Don’t forget to use the code “howdydarby” for a $10 monthly diy box!

July Treatsie Sweet Goodness in a monthly box and New Customer Deal!

Treatsie Artisan Sweets box focuses completely on candy. It’s a bit pricey at $19.95 monthly, but that’s because it sends small batch made, quality and more unique candy than the run of the mill grocery store candy bar. For that I took advantage of their current promotion right now making the first box $4.95.

I couldn’t believe how huge the package was when it arrived on my doorstep last week. The candy box is small itself but my package was huge due to the insane effort to insulate the box. The ability for Treatsie to send me unmelted chocolate bars in July is just darn impressive and I think the shipping charge is more than reasonable when you see how well they package their boxes to ensure nothing is damaged.

When I got through all the packaging I found my box just that, completely undamaged and well wrapped.

IMG_4341   IMG_4344

Their was a small product card on top to let me know what was sampled for July.

IMG_4352 IMG_4353

Shotwell Candy Co. Old Fashioned Cocktail Caramels and Hand- Crushed Espresso Caramels-These are delicious, I have tried many times to make my own caramel. Let me tell you I think it would be much easier to get these instead. I love the unique flavor combo that we received to sample. I thought both flavors were fantastic and the caramels weren’t to hard and were very buttery.

Seattle Chocolates: Milk Truffle, Dark Truffle and Total Toffee Truffle Bars $3.50 each- I was really hoping to get chocolate! Not only did I get one bar, I got three! Yay! If I had to choose a favorite candy it would of course be chocolate and these truffle bars are delicious. The packaging is also really great and I am loving the bright colors.

Raley’s Confectionary: Treatsie Variety Mix $6– I haven’t tried hard candy like this before and they look so pretty in the bag I almost want to put them out for decoration. I enjoyed the fruity flavors and I almost wish they came in a small tin so I could put some in my purse. Oh and while writing this I checked the ingredients and it does say that they use natural colors and flavors, nothing artificial!

IMG_4357  IMG_4355

I really enjoyed the variety of sweets this month, I am wishing hopefully that I will see their subscription service on sale on Groupon or something so its a bit more affordable. I never knew how good hard candy could be and all of the flavors in the mix are delicious.

Bottom line, take advantage of trying a box for $5, it’s worth it! I already canceled because it’s not in my budget and it is super easy to do, no hassle. I really enjoyed trying Treatsie and another bonus, they have all the sweets available in their shop for purchase if you want more!

July Orange Glad Review and $5 Off Code

IMG_4210 July’s Sweet Box from Orange Glad was another hit in our house and as usual did not last long. The sweet Box is a monthly dessert subscription box that is $21.95($15.00+$6.95 shipping) per month. Each month you receive 5 different sugar coma inducing sweets and all of them come from smaller bakeries. This is a wonderful way to support small businesses and try something new that you may never have even known about. I am an avid baker myself so I am a harsh critic when it comes to desserts. I can honestly say that while some items I have tried have been just good, I have found some desserts that I have really enjoyed and will be getting more of. Last month’s sample from Lily’s Bakery and May’s Italian Butterhorns from Cici’s are two that stand out. Orange Glad even has an online shop that you can order more of the sweets that you loved in the box.

Orange Glad does a really great job at packaging but this month they just went and got that much sweeter. I mean just check out that cute paper for the sweets. It feels like I just got a really thoughtful gift in the mail when I get this box.

IMG_4198  IMG_4203

Seattle’s Favorite Gourmet Cookies and Dessert Co. Cranberry Muffin Top: Normally I am not a fan of cranberries in baked good but this was an exception. My daughter and I gobbled this up, it was soft and just the right amount of sweet. I want more for our morning breakfast time.

Chocolate Maven Hazelnut Cheesecake Brownie: I didn’t like this too much. I didn’t taste any hazelnut and though the consistency was all wrong for the cheese cake topping. IMG_4216

Orange Glad Ice Dream Sandwich- I think it’s really neat that Orange Glad made some of it’s own sweets. This cookie was good but it wasn’t that great either. I like that it’s a take on combining a butter cookie and frosting but I think it needed more frosting for the filling. Regardless of my opinion the hubby still liked this, so it just varies from person to person .

Lily’s Bakery Shop Chocolate Babka: Again something I really enjoyed from Lily’s Bakery Shop. We all enjoyed trying this chocolatey cake. I would love this my coffee in the morning, just sweet enough.

IMG_4226 Gianna’s Homemade Baked Goods Freedom Star Sugar Cookies: Really good sugar cookies! Love these for the 4th, Ill have to remember them for next July or check out what other sugar cookie themes they have.

This has been another month of yummy sweets from Orange Glad. I would like to see a little more variety as far as the bakeries but everything else was fabulous! The past few months I have gotten the chance to try sweets I have never heard of along with classic favorites like sugar cookies. I never knew what a babka was, but I am sure glad I do now. I want to order some more, mmmm.

Interested in subscribing to Orange Glad? Enter the code ANTONIAOG3316 to get $5 towards your first box making it $16.95 for your first one!

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.

July 2014 Birchbox

Whew I am in love with Birchbox right now. Even when they mess up, their customer service cannot be beat! Any issue or request I have had Birchbox has been wonderful. With this month’s July box I ordered one of the “Power Up” options and since it is going to be late they credited me $10 in the BB shop. What’s best is that they addressed the issue before I even had to contact them. I still haven’t gotten my rechargeable phone battery that I ordered but I hope it comes soon, I am always re-charging a dying phone before headed out the door.

Birchbox teamed up with Women’s Health Magazine again this year to curate July’s box and I really like the box design!

Ruffian Nail Polish and Bonus Nail Polish Remover Wipe: This was not technically my choice, I originally picked the lip stain but it didn’t work (and then the only nail polish that was left was this one). I don’t mind though because I don’t have a silver polish and this formula is great. I put on a single coat of polish and it hasn’t chipped and looks good. As an added plus I really like the cute chess like bottles that Ruffian comes in.

IMG_4301 IMG_4302

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel: I am so excited for this product and because of the high price I am glad I have the sample to try out first. I have never tried a facial peel before this one. Supposedly it will clear up any acne and basically make my skin radiant. I have tried this once. It is a clear gel and doesn’t have much scent to it. After leaving it on my face for 30 seconds I followed the directions and massaged the product into my skin for 3 minutes. I feel like it did exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. My face didn’t look much different but I wasn’t expecting such quick results. This isn’t the biggest size sample but it should last me a few uses, hopefully enough to see results.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion: This is probably the least favorite item in my box mainly because I dislike the scent. I love that this is a natural and organic lotion free of parabens, dyes, petrochemicals-basically any of the “bad stuff” which is always what I try and use. This lotion has shea butter, aloe vera, avocado oil and olive oil, so it is a nice lotion. I really wish I liked the scent more. I am a huge fan of aloe vera and I have used it for sun burns my whole life so anything with that as an ingredient has to be decent. IMG_4299

Benefit Posie Balm: How adorable is Benefit’s packaging? I love the look of their entire line and I have really loved anything that I have tried from them. This posie balm is just a pink tint, nice and sheer. The balm goes on smooth and this teeny tube is great to take with me on the go.

IMG_4304 Beauty Protector Deep Conditioning Hair Mask: I am so glad that these samples came like this and not in a foil packet! I love this line and thanks to BB I have now tried the shampoo, conditioner, protector spray, oil and now this deep conditioner. It all smells sweet and fantastic, the lack of harmful ingredients is also pretty great. No sulfates or parabens, however I think they might have put in artificial color for this mask (it has a slightly pink tint).

Along with the usual product card Birchbox also included Power Up challenge cards and a free subscription to Women’s Health. Also note that if you don’t want this subscription you can ask for a rebate of $10 instead! Thank you Women’s Health!

This month was much better than last month’s and had some neat new beauties to try out! I am really excited for the new choice options, at least once the kinks have been worked out. If you want to take advantage of a good deal I think the codes WOMENSHEALTH100 and BBFAB100 should still work to give new subscribers a $10 credit in the BB shop. If you already subscribe you can cancel and then re-subscribe using the code and it will still work!  And don’t forget about bonus points for doing product reviews! Is anyone as excited for August’s box as I am? I think after July’s issues it should go more smoothly for August with the new box options. I just picked mine out today: I went with the cream eyeshadow. What did you pick or would you rather it be a surprise?

July Pop Sugar Must Have Box

Surprise! Better late than never, here is my review of July’s Pop Sugar Must Have box:

This is one of the more expensive subscription boxes, it is $39.95 monthly. They have been around for a while and ever since the first box the value has always been there. If you are looking for a gift for a gal pal, this is it. There is such variety that even when I don’t like one thing I usually get a lot that I do love, a lot!

TKO Jump Rope $10:  Ok, this jump rope is one of those items I do not like. It looks like a very nice jump rope, but let’s face it. I am not ever going to use this. Thank goodness for swap sites, I am trading this for sure.

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara $7.99:  This is an extra this month and even though it’s the only one I have received, others are not so lucky. I have seen this mascara in a bunch of other boxes this month, probably bumming a lot of people out. Or not if they really love mascara! I haven’t tried this yet so I can’t comment on if it’s good or not.

Dang Foods Toasted Coconut Chips $3:  These are truly yummy, but only if you like coconut. I happen to love coconut and these chips are awesome to throw over tropical things like salad or bananas and peanut butter! But I do normally just eat them straight out of the bag. I am saving these away since once I open it, they will be gone.

French Bull Ziggy Salad Servers- $12:  How adorable are these salad servers? The pattern is so bright and cheerful, perfect for the summer. I don’t have salad servers, so these are maybe my favorite item in the box. Also a win, they are BPA free and dishwasher safe.

ACME Party Box Co. Chevron Paper Straws $7: Even though these are adorable as well, I am not a fan of paper straws. I have had bad experiences in the past where the straw just gets gross. These do seem thicker so maybe they will hold up better. These straws would definitely be a great addition to a summer bbq.

Sun Bum SPF 30 Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion $11.99 and Cool Down Hydrating After Sun Lotion $7.99: I am out in the sun a lot this summer and I can never have too much SPF. I like that these are nice travel sizes and have a pretty decent tropical coconut scent. I know that some people really hate that kind of smell but trust me, this one is pretty good!

Michael Stars Sea Grass Crusher Hat- $48.00: *I took this photo from the internet, I would include a picture of me in the hat but it’s to awful to post. I did get the black hat from a previous summer PSMH box that I did wear and like. I don’t look to great in hats, and this one looks silly on me. It has flexible wire around the rim so it can be adjusted and it came in either tan or dark brown. Either way, this is in the trade pile.

I got some products I really love this month and again PSMH does a good job of these lifestyle boxes. I really enjoy getting the variety every month, even with the hat. What if it had actually worked for me? Well then I would have had a great hat to wear at a bbq this summer : ).
